Educational Mentoring

Educational Mentoring Services:

Significant amounts of research, as well as our own experience as educators, tells us that before students can learn, they must feel emotionally connected to the material at hand. This amounts to coaching them through feelings they have about the subject matter, their teachers, peer relationships, and even home life in order to establish a stable, comfortable and supportive environment in which they solicit our help. We find our teaching methods to be considerably more effective when our students are asking for help. Once we have achieved this, we are equipped to develop executive-functioning tasks such as organization and study skills, as well as any other goals.

Given the complexity of trying to understand this kind of dynamic, our mentors spend considerable time writing about the lessons, communicating with families and teachers, and meeting with the rest of our team, all on behalf of coming up with solutions that satisfy specific goals of both the students and parents, and the more general need for academic progress.
