Subject Tutoring

Tutoring Services:

All of our mentors are comfortable with the range of subjects formally covered through the high school level, and we are able to focus on personality matches as much as subjects sought when pairing students with mentors.

Academic tutoring for keeping/catching up:

Many students find that they benefit from one-on-one work, whether to supplement school work, get ahead, or replace missed work. Common reasons for seeking this kind of tutoring include transferring schools, prolonged absences, or alternative learning styles / diagnoses of ADD, dyslexia, or other idiosyncrasies.

If a student is already behind, we will want to understand how and why this has occurred. If the gap is entirely based on a prolonged absence, then the student's needs may simply require short-term solutions. If the gap derives from motivational or cognitive difficulties, then the student may benefit most from our long-term mentoring approach.

Academic tutoring for enrichment:

Some students find that exploring the material they are studying beyond the classroom sustains their interest and provides motivational support. In a creative, supportive environment, this kind of exploration often leads to enhanced self-confidence and renewed curiosity. When focusing on enrichment, we help to foster a life long love of general learning as well as a deeper appreciation for the given subject matter.
